Ted E. Summitt, Sr. worked for many
years with Lansford Piano Co. – a continuous
Baldwin piano store in Chattanooga for 81 years –
as their technician, tuning and rebuilding pianos.
Shortly after the closing of Lansford Piano Co., Ted
Summitt opened Summitt Pianos in 1991. He has
hosted the Chattanooga Music Teachers Association
for their recitals, monthly meetings, annual
auditions and other musical events for the past 11
years. Chattanooga Symphony and Opera also depend on
Summitt Pianos to provide the Steinway Concert Grand
for their concert work. Summitt Pianos is the only
piano store left in Chattanooga that is locally
owned & operated. Summitt Pianos still places
high value on the retailer code of ethics.
